The Bike Transporter

Here are some pictures of the gadget I rigged up to use when we travel with the bikes. The bikes are easily attached to the board once the front tires are removed. Then, the whole rig is placed in the bed of my truck. It was more difficult to assemble than I had expected, as I have a very limited supply of tools here in the apartment. The total length of the setup is about 52 inches, and so is the bed of my truck when the toolbox is still in it. I haven't been able to try it out to see if it will fit that way as of yet. It will definitely be close. Wish me luck on that one. Let me know what you think about the setup...good or bad idea?

Now, I am off to play Tiger Woods on the XBox! The wife is at a scrapbooking party, so I am free to do as I please for a little while longer.

I say chunk the bikes in the back of the truck and let the wheels spin in the wind. They will fall over when you make the turn at McD's drive through, but scratches on the bike will give the impression that you have done some rough riding on hard trails.
