I always find it interesting that people can call themselves anti-death penalty and feel that is being compassionate. Would you still feel a person only deserves 5-10 years in prison if they killed your mother or your child? Go ahead...be honest.
As for thinking that being against abortion and for the death penalty are in any way related...you are being foolish! If you can't see the obvious differences on your own, then it can never be explained to you. Ignorance is bliss!
